updateWhat's new
What's new in Wasoolo 2.5.2: less mobile data, a faster sync, and everything from 2.5.1
Wasoolo 2.5.2 asks the server one question per sync instead of eighty, so the app uses far less mobile data and battery. Every 2.5.1 feature is in it too.
Wasoolo 2.5.2 in five lines
- 1Sync asks onceOne question to the server per check, not one per kind of record.
- 2Less data, less batteryThe empty replies are gone; the phone fetches only what changed.
- 3A safety netA full check on every cold start and at least every six hours.
- 4The online ping sleepsIt stops when the app leaves the screen and restarts when you return.
- 5Everything from 2.5.1Profit on the entry, the rate you paid, stock-in pre-filled, import two ways.
Wasoolo 2.5.2 changes one thing you cannot see and will feel every day: when the app checks for new entries it now asks the server a single question instead of eighty, so it uses far less mobile data and battery and refreshes faster on a weak signal. Everything from 2.5.1 is in this build too.

Sync asks once, not eighty times
Every time you open Wasoolo, come back to it, save an entry, or another phone on your shop saves one, the app checks the server for anything new. Your shop's data lives in more than eighty kinds of records: customers, khatas, entries, products, stock, payments, reminders, staff and so on. Until now the app asked about each kind separately, one small request per kind, on every check. On a quiet afternoon most of those eighty answers were the same two characters: nothing new.
That was the waste. An empty answer still travels with about a kilobyte of wrapping, and eighty of them add up on every single check, all day, on every phone in the shop.
From 2.5.2 the app sends one question: which of my records changed since I last looked? The server answers with a short list, and the app fetches only those kinds. On our test phone a check that used to make 83 small requests made one, and then fetched the seven kinds of records that had actually changed. The other 76 were not asked for at all.
One check for new entries, before and after 2.5.2
What you will notice
Say you open the app twenty times in a working day. Before, each open cost about eighty replies of roughly a kilobyte, so around 1.6 MB a day went to answers that said nothing, close to 50 MB a month on one phone. Now a check that finds nothing new costs a few kilobytes. If your shop has a helper's phone and your own, both stop paying that toll.
The second thing is speed. On a 3G signal in a market, eighty requests go out in waves and the refresh waits for the slowest wave. One request comes back in a blink, and the few kinds that changed come right behind it. The pull-to-refresh, the check when you return to the app and the ping from your helper's phone all get shorter.
The third thing is battery. Fewer requests mean the radio wakes up less often. Nothing about this changes your numbers: the same entries arrive, in the same order, checked the same way.
The safety net
A check that skips things needs a belt, and this one has three. When the app starts cold it still asks about every kind of record, the old way. At least once every six hours it does the same, whatever the server said in between. And if the server cannot answer the single question, because your connection dropped or the reply looked odd, the app falls back to the full check on the spot. Three misses in a row switch the short question off until the next app start. So the worst case is exactly what you had before 2.5.2, never less.
The online ping stops when you leave the app
Wasoolo sends a small "I am online" ping every two minutes while the app is in front of you, so the owner's dashboard can show who is working. On some Android phones that ping kept going after you switched to WhatsApp or the camera, quietly, for hours. From 2.5.2 it stops the moment the app leaves the screen and starts again when you come back. Less battery, less data, and the online list tells the truth.
Coming from 2.5.0? Everything 2.5.1 brought is in this build
If your phone is still on 2.5.0, this update also gives you the whole of 2.5.1. The short version, with the full story in the 2.5.1 article:
- Profit on the entry itself. Open a sale entry and a Profit row sits under the items, on the day book and the counter bill too. Owner only.

- The buy rate you really paid. Bought a product at two rates? A list of the rates you paid opens by itself on the sale line; pick the right one and the profit is counted from it.

- Stock-in, pre-filled. The buy rate and sale rate come filled, a live profit chip sits beside them, and the stock alert is one small box.

- Buy rate 0 means free, and an empty box means the rate is not known.
- Supplier: Pay and Received, with reasons, including "he paid an expense for us", which writes the expense for you.
- Every money row opens its own page, and a jump lands with the row lit up.
- Import products two ways, both ending in Upload the file; groups become folders, nested with Parent > Child.

And the 2.5.0 article covers the counter sale, returns on any khata and one bank account across shops, if you have been away longer.
How to get it
Update from the Play Store, or let the store update it by itself; nothing needs setting up. Android gets 2.5.2 first and the iPhone build follows. Wasoolo is 100% FREE to download, and if your cash box and your khata still disagree at closing time, the daily cash count is the habit that fixes it.
Common questions
Do I have to change any setting?
No. Update the app and the shorter check starts by itself on the next open. There is no switch for it, and nothing to sign in to again.
Will my entries arrive later than before?
No. A new entry is on the changed list the moment it reaches the server, so it arrives at the same time as before, usually sooner because the check is shorter.
Does this change what my helper's phone can see?
No. Permissions and scopes are unchanged. The server answers the short question with the same rules it uses for the full check.
My connection is very poor. What happens if the short question fails?
The app waits four seconds at most, then does the full check the old way. Three failures in a row switch the short question off until the app starts again.
Will the six-hour full check cost me data?
About what one check cost before 2.5.2, four times a day at most, and only while the app is open. It is there so a skipped record can never stay hidden.
I updated, but the online list still shows my helper after he left the shop.
His phone needs the update too. Until then it keeps the old ping; once he updates, his phone drops off the list when he leaves the app.
What your shop really earns explains the number the Profit row now brings to every entry.
